Monitors
TFT - Thin Film Transistor, can also be referred to as active matrix or even used at the same time such as “TFT Active Matrix LCD”. This type of screen has become the standard for bright and colourful screens.LCD - Liquid Crystal Display. LCD's are found in countless gadgets that require a small or flat screen such as cell phones, handheld game systems, computer monitors, etc.
OSD - On Screen display, usually in forms of a menu system, this allows the user to adjust options and settings.
Remote Data Link – Allows a wired like between a source unit and a monitor, avoids the need of using the remote data eyelet normally used to control the DVD player with remote control, ease of installation is achieved and reduced installation time.
Remote Control – Often a handheld battery operated device to control another device wireless.
Resolution - Refers to the sharpness, or detail, of the visual image. A complete screen image is composed of thousands of pixels and the screen's resolution. The higher the resolution, the more pixels that can be displayed and therefore the more information the screen can display at any given time.
Brightness – This refers to the luminescence (brightness) of the backlight in the monitor generally the higher the Brightness the more vivid the colours will be
Viewing angle - from the flat point of a monitor that determines the best viewable image in relation to the angle it is viewed from. Normally stated like this,
Headphone Socket – Normally found on the front panel of a monitor allowing the user to plug in a wired set of headphones for audio. Can also be in the form of an externally mounted socket e.g. installed in a centre console.
IR headphone transmitter (Single channel or dual channel 2.3-2.8 3.2-3.8Mhz) – Allows transmission of a wireless IR signal to a receiver which is built into IR wireless headphones. Wireless transmission of Audio is achieved this way up to 2 separate channels on an analogue system.
Aspect Ratio– these formats are the rectangular shape of a video image or ASPECT RATIO as it’s called. A standard T.V. is 4:3 format. A 16:9 format is known as widescreen.
Video composite – Composite video contains chrominance (hue and saturation) and luminance (brightness) information, along with synchronization and blanking pulses all together in a single signal.
Wired – wired means a device that is equipped with a wire or system of wires, most commonly used in electrical connections.
DVD
E.S.P. – Electronic shock protection, prevents the Disc from jumping and skipping when the product is shocked.Variable mounting – Unit can be mounted in various positions/angles. Angle options, Vertical and horizontal.
Setup – This function allows you to change the DVD players settings i.e. language, picture, audio etc.
OSD – On screen display, usually informs of a menu system that allows the user to adjust options and settings.
AV Inputs – AV input composite video terminal. Terminal can be RCA or coaxial connection.
AV Output – this can be an AV output composite video terminal, RCA, coaxial or speaker terminal.
Disc Memory- Also know as Last Position Memory. This function is standard on all of our DVD players, and remembers the last seen of the film when the unit is turned off. When the unit is turn on again the Player will start playing from the same point.
MPEG 4 – This is a method of compressing images still or moving onto a CD or DVD disc. In this format films can be down loaded from the Internet and played as a normal film on the DVD player.
Photo Viewer – This allows the user to view images stored on a CD such as photographs.
Multi Region - A Multi Region DVD player will play DVD discs from any area of the world.
Multi Media - Player is a generic term for a player that plays more then just a DVD disc.
NTSC-PAL - These are the 2 formats used around the world to display images on a Monitor.
Auto Switching – This allows the monitor or DVD player to switch on its own between NTSC and PAL.
Headphones
Frequency response – A measurement of what frequencies can be reproduced and how accurately they are reproduced. A measurement of 20 to 20,000Hz +/- 3dB can be reproduced no more than 3dB above or below a reference frequency level.Auto power off – When a device does not receive an input signal for a short amount of time they automatically switch off to save power loss.
Multi channel – When using wireless infrared of radio frequency headphones this allows audio to be listened through different frequencies this reduces interference through headphones that are using the same frequency.
IR, INFRARED – Wavelengths that are longer than light but shorter than radio waves. Electromagnetic wave frequencies below the visible range at its red end.
RF, RADIO FREQUENCY – this refers to the portion of electromagnetic spectrum in which electromagnetic waves can be generated by alternating current fed to an antenna.
Wired – wired means a device that is equipped with a wire or system of wires, most commonly used in electrical connections.
Wireless – wireless is an old fashioned term for a radio transceiver. Now the term is used to describe modern wireless connections such as wireless headphones which use infra red or radio frequency also used in connections such cellular networks and wireless broadband internet
Connectors/ installation accessories
RCA/PHONO – RCA stands for Radio Corporation of America. Also known as a Phono plug these are used for every sort of audio/video input or output, these come colour coded (red for right, black or white for left and yellow for composite video and they are also used for coaxial digital cables.AV – means audio and visual. This technology combines visual inputs such as video with sound to convey information.
3.5mm jack – Also known as a phono jack. A type of plug or socket 2 /3/4/ way connectors used in sound equipment and frequently mounted on the chassis of audio devices.
Diversity – Operates in conjunction with a TV tuner and the Antennas. The Diversity function allows the Tuner to select the antenna that is providing the strongest signal.
Bandwidth – Is the frequency band that the unit operates between.
Camera’s IP67 – 6 Means that the unit is totally protected against dust. 7 Means that the unit is protected against the effect of immersion in liquid between 150mm and 1000mm.
LUX - The international system unit of illumination, equal to one lumen per square meter. If a camera has a higher LUX this means that the camera needs more natural light for it to operate better than a lower LUX camera.
Parking sensors
Paint able – sensors will still operate through metallic spray paint.Range – distance of sensor detection.
Buzzer – audio signal on detection of objects.
Display – visual reading on detection of an object.
Control unit – this contains circuit board hardware.
Mounting distance – mounting of sensor in bumper from measured distance from ground.
